Geometry and Topology Seminar

The Geometry and Topology Seminar at the University of Haifa meets every two weeks, with talks on a wide range of topics in algebraic, geometric, differential, and symplectic topology, and in differential and algebraic geometry, broadly understood.

The seminar takes place on Wednesday 12:10 in room 614 (tentative). For more information please contact the seminar organizer, Frol Zapolsky.

U. Haifa Topology & Geometry seminar: Sunday, May 1, 2022. Speaker: Dimitri Ara (Marseilles). Title: “Comparison of three nerve functors for strict n-categories”.

Time: 17:00 (Israel Time) Location: On Zoom Abstract: The nerve functor from categories to simplicial sets allows to associate toany small category a homotopy type giving rise to a homotopy theory of smallcategories studied by Quillen, Thomason and Grothendieck. To…

U. Haifa Topology & Geometry seminar: Sunday, Apr. 24, 2022. Speaker: Surojit Ghosh (IIT Roorkee). Title: “Slice Filtration of E”.

Time: 17:00 (Israel Time) Location: On Zoom Recording: https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/hgnju1bKL_ueL3VYdTVbsd1yvB737rHJxu7HK2UyAien-F4CgUYMa2iWYxL_7sHL.Yn8cQ8p8qmFdUK0e Abstract. The slice filtration is an equivariant analogue of the Postnikov tower and it is modeled on Voevodsky’s motivic filtration. I will begin by recalling the definition of slice filtration along…

U. Haifa Topology & Geometry seminar: Sunday, Apr. 3, 2022. Speaker: Sanjeevi Krishnan (Ohio State University). Title: “A Kan Condition for Directed Homotopy”.

Time: 17:00 (Israel Time) Location: On Zoom Abstract. The Kan condition guarantees that a simplicial set, a formal colimit of abstract simplices, models enough features of a topological space so that classical homotopy theory can be given a completely combinatorial description. …
