U. Haifa Topology & Geometry seminar: Sunday, Mar. 13, 2022. Speaker: Michael Farber (Queen Mary). Title: “Topological Complexity of Spherical Bundles”

Time: Sunday March 13 17:00

Location: On Zoom and in Room 614 Haifa University Mathematics and Science Building

Abstract: I will start by describing the concept of a parametrized motion planning algorithm which allows to achieve high degree of flexibility and universality. The main part of the talk will focus on the problem of understanding the topological complexity of sphere bundles. I will explain how characteristic classes of vector bundles enter the picture and help to find a solution. I will analyse several specific examples.

The talk is based on a joint work with S. Weinberger.
