                                                   Abstract:

Spectral sequences, first discovered by Leray in the 1940’s, are a basic computational tool of algebraic topology, homological algebra, group theory, and many related fields. In Massey’s description in terms of exact couples, they appear to be purely algebraic devices, but in fact there is always a homotopical (or at least homological) aspect to the differentials.
In the talk we will briefly review the basic ingredients of spectral sequences, and in particular the homotopy spectral sequence of a simplicial space. We will then explain how they can be set up in infinity-categories in a model-invariant manner.
