Title: Recent progress on Furstenberg’s rigidity conjectures

Abstract: In the 1960’s Furstenberg proposed a series of conjectures which, in different ways, aim to capture the idea that expansions in multiplicatively independent bases have no common structure. We will discuss several of these conjectures, as well as recent remarkable results resolving some of them. We will then present some very recent results extending, in some sense, one of these conjectures (the slicing conjecture – now known as the Shmerkin-Wu Theorem) to a significantly more general setting.

Partially based on joint work with Meng Wu.
