                                                   Abstract:

I will discuss the construction of a model structure on the category of pro-simplicial sheaves. Using this model structure I will define the relative homotopy type of a map of topoi, by applying a derived functor. I will explain how this homotopy type can be used to define cohomological obstructions to the existence of rational points on algebraic varieties. These obstructions were mentioned in a previous talk in this seminar.
