Title: Grothendieck post-70 and his Galois-Teichmüller theory
Abstract: Alexandre Grothendieck left IHÉS in 1970. For a few years he wouldn’t think of mathematics so much any more but then several “mathematical crises” occurred, almost against his own will and for about a decade (1981-1991), he produced remarkable and highly influential manuscripts. I will concentrate especially on the ideas which are delineated his famous “Esquisse d’un Programme” (“Sketch of a program”, 1984), which in particular contains the reflections about the popular “dessins d’enfants” but in fact much more, in the form of Galois-Teichmüller (nowadays Grorhendieck-Teichmüller) theory. These ideas have been pursued and advanced and have turned into a contemporary area of research.
