Interpreting this\u00a0information is the goal of the Hodge conjecture and its generalization by Grothendieck.<br \/>\nAccording to Bloch-Beilinson&#8217;s conjectures, the complexity or size of the Hodge structures (measured by the Hodge coniveau) should reflect the size of the Chow groups (a universal purely algebraic cohomology theory built only from algebraic data).
