Derived functors in our sense, when exist,<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are given by a Kan extension, but their existence is a<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">strictly stronger property than that of existence of Kan extensions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our definition is especially convenient for the description<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of a passage from an adjoint pair of functors to the respective<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">derived adjoint pair.
